the halloween cupcake test
You Are Goofy |
You are a fun loving and carefree person. You can't help but be a bit of a goofball. You love to make people laugh, and your sense of humor is quite silly. You enjoy Halloween each year, partially because it allows you to put your personality on display. You have the craziest costume around, and you outdo yourself every year! |
what halloween character are you?
You Are a Witch |
You are sharp, crafty and intuitive. You are capable of so much! You just seem to know things. You understand how to effect those around you. You know how to help, but you also know how to hurt. It's up to you to decide if you want to use your powers for good or evil. Most importantly, you know how to get your way without lifting a finger. Now that's power! |

the haunted house test
You Are Classic and Chic |
You don't fall for old fads thinly disguised as new trends. You prefer to stick to what's tried and true. You are wise and savvy. You know history well, and you aren't doomed to repeat it. You aren't scared of much. You prefer to get to the bottom of things rather than wonder about them. You believe that most fear is fear of the unknown, so you try to know as much as possible. |

thursday bug
Sometimes it helps to share with others what bugs your mind.

This week my thursday bug is:
Inability to focus on one thing. I've been distracted this week.

what treat should you give out for halloween?
You Should Give Out Milk Chocolate |
You are a very modest and unassuming person. You don't pretend to be someone you're not. Like a milk chocolate bar, you're perfect the way you are. You don't need any flash. You are comforting and steady. People know what they can expect from you, and they appreciate your strengths. While some trendy types may leave you underrated for a while, people always come back to you in the end. |
what's your halloween personality?
You See Halloween as Fun |
You're a friendly person, but not the life of the party. You like making someone else's day - and you'll dress up if you think of a really fun costume. You're weird. You're downright deviant. And you use dressing up in a costume as an excuse to act out. Your inner child is open minded, playful, and adventurous. Your fears are irrational and varied. It's hard to predict what you may be afraid of on any given day. You're logical, rational, and not easily effected. Not a lot scares you... especially when it comes to the paranormal. You are a traditionalist with most aspects of your life. You like your Halloween costume to be basic, well made, and conventional enough to wear another year. |
what miniature chocolate bar are you?
You Are a Krackel Bar |
You create a spark and leave a mark everywhere you go. You're very bold. Your days are full of fun and laughter. You love life, and you never take it too seriously. You enjoy brightening someone's mood, and you are always an optimist. Things may not ever be perfect, but you'll always find something to smile about. |

making progress...
Very interesting therapy session today. Yesterday, in my Manic Monday I mentioned asking my therapist if she thought we should change my action plan. So today we talked about it. Mostly, I had a breakthrough when we were talking about control and being in control. Or being out of control. I'm processing the session. And I'm sure I'll have more to say about it.

finished reading...
I don't even know where to start with how much I loved this book. It's a somewhat Gothic and completely mesmerizing story. The story of Ren is mysterious--from how he lost his hand to how he came to be at the orphanage and his future rests in the hands of a con-artist who claims him from St. Anthony's Orphanage. Even though there are some brutal deaths, overall the story is uplifting. I smiled through the whole book, I was captivated.
I really enjoyed this and can't wait for my reading group to discuss it. So much to talk about!
just another manic monday...
If you could go back in time what would your current day self tell your 18-year-old self? to follow my dreams
Name one thing you could do to improve any important relationship in your life. spend more time together
If you were guaranteed honest responses to any three questions, whom would you question, and what would you ask? I would ask the head of the CIA if they really don't know where Osama Bin Laden is. I would ask my neighbor to turn the volume on her television down. I would ask my therapist if she we should change my action plan.

compelling...
This should be mandatory viewing for any teens that are contemplating a sexual relationship. The situations are heartbreaking. Everything about their lives changes in one instant.
the five factor emotional intelligence test
You Sometimes Attend to Your Emotions |
You find expressing your emotions to be quite natural. You just say and show how you feel. You always make your decisions based on facts and logic. You never listen to your heart, because you know it can lead you astray. You are very emotionally responsive. It's not difficult to tug on your heartstrings. You are an extremely empathetic person. You find it easy to put yourself in someone else's shoes. |

quiz
what's your social style?
You Are Friendly |
You enjoy being around others, and you are a natural people pleaser. Being social makes you feel good. You are naturally popular and well liked. Your friendship is genuine and it shows. You're always looking to add to your circle of friends. You are ready to welcome anyone new into your life. Even though you have a ton of friends, you always have room for a few more! |

testing, testing...
Today was PSAT day. All morning I administered the exam. It was a drag. And I had to sacrifice my planning period. Blah. I had things I needed to do that just didn't get done. Then the schedule was modified for the rest of the school day and it ate into all my classes. I just feel like I didn't get enough accomplished. The sophomores were kind of stunned after the testing so they weren't up to their usual capacity all day, either.
I hope tomorrow is more successful all around.

lament...
It's Saturday night and there's nothing good on tv. I'm not amused. I did do a quick shopping exchange online. So, new shoes are on the way.
However, I am feeling slightly pathetic.
YouTube to the rescue?

loss...
I've been doing a lot of thinking about funerals, mothers and loss--because of my colleague's mother's death. What I've been thinking about is that my mother has been dead longer than she was alive. It's poignant and such a part of who I am that I genuinely can't imagine what I would be like if she was alive longer in my life. I remember reading Motherless Daughters by Hope Edelman but think I might have to pick it up again.
I think my upcoming 45th birthday has something to do with this, too. I've lived as many years without Mum as the years she lived.
what kind of chair are you?
You Are a Modern Chair |
You are confident and sure of yourself. You don't hide behind anything or anyone. You rock a simple elegance that people are jealous of. You don't feel like you have to dress up who you are. You are usually the coolest person in the room - and you know it. You can't help but be a bit of a snob. You find it difficult to relax or let your guard down. You are afraid of being too sloppy. |

read...
I probably shouldn't blame being back at school... but I haven't been able to read. I'm struggling to read my book group book. I did read a lot over the summer. I love to read.
Oh, and speaking of books...
it's once again Buy A Friend A Book Week and I just sent a box of books to my Virginia sister.
