ten things tuesday

Vacation style in no particular order:

1) Turn off the alarm. I like to let my body set it's own bedtime and wake up time. This is how I gauge how much sleep I actually need.

2) Read. Reading until my eyeballs fall out. Catching up on magazines, catalogues, junk mail, mail, my TBR stack and anything else with words.

3) Stillness. I have to remind myself, often, to do nothing. At school I'm rushing around all the time with demands being made of my attention. It's nice to be still. To stare out the window for an hour with a clear mind, taking a break from my racing thoughts and rushed to-do lists.

4) Road trips. Nothing like a road trip with no place to be.

5) Long lunches. Usually I have a couple long lunches with friends. It's nice to be leisurely and to sit and relax and catch up.

6) Movies. It's time to catch up on movies. I'm lucky my dad belongs to some kind of movie club that he receives tons of movies for a very low price. His rental rate is perfect for my budget. tee hee

7) Long walks. Weather permitting.

8) Clear out the cobwebs. Letting my mind wander, thinking about everything and nothing, and having the occasional flash of inspiration.

9) Playing online. Visiting websites (such as Very Short List or Fark) that are easy to lose time at. Or watching TV online--for some reason my cable went out during Brothers & Sisters but I got to watch online. And I can catch up with some of my favorite podcasts, too. I can blog about weird stuff and visit all my favorite blogs, too!

10) Occasional naps. I tell myself every day that it's not vacation until I take an afternoon nap but I get so busy doing everything else on my list of ten things that I sometimes don't get to the nap. Although, doing nothing is hard work.
