self-care weekend

This was a self-care weekend.  Starting with Friday, which I took off as a mental health day.  I had a telehealth visit with my therapist which was helpful. I know that there was a shortage of substitute teachers Friday and that my plans probably were not executed the way I wanted them to be.  But I can take time to recalibrate the assignments.  I didn't let it ruin my day off nor did I stress about it.

Saturday was manicure day.

And today was a massage.  A little story about the massage--I received an email from the masseuse with a ½ price birthday offer, which is what prompted me to make the appointment in the first place. After the session, we were having a pleasant conversation about this and that, and she said it was free.  She said she does it twice a year and that this was the time.  I sputtered and told her that I didn't know how to thank her.  I was so grateful.

Interspersed was some running around, attending to errands, and so forth.  I even managed some cooking.  And I organized my sweaters.  Oh, and I scrubbed the bathroom mirror and the floor.

I'm so proud of myself for taking the time off.  Taking the time to focus on relaxation and rejuvenation.  I'll be a better teacher, colleague, daughter, sister, and friend for doing it.

Me, Myself, and I said...

Oh, these are the BEST kind of posts. I love hearing about how others do self-care. It's hard for me. Helping professions like teachers, nurses, we HAVE to do it not to go insane and yet...I suck at it. I'm going to take a leaf from your book and do something for ME this weekend. Not Mom, not hubs, just ME. :)
