Thank U, Next

1) In this song, Ariana Grande thanks her former boyfriends for what they taught her about love, life, patience and pain. Do you believe you have learned more from your successes, or your mistakes? I'm going to say successes since that spurs me to keep getting better, keep learning, and keep growing
2) One of the young men mentioned in the song is Pete Davidson, a cast member of Saturday Night Live. SNL has been on for more than 45 years now. Who is your all-time favorite cast member?  Gilda Radner
3) Thinking of funny people ... As you can see from the video, Ariana performed "Thank U, Next" on Ellen Degeneres' talk show. Ellen makes people laugh every afternoon. Who in your life can you always count on to make you laugh or smile? my stepmother Barb ALWAYS amuses me--she's one of my best friends and mentors
4) It looks like Ariana Grande's personal romantic saga will have a happy ending because at Christmastime, she announced her engagement. Do you know anyone who is getting married in 2021?  I am not aware of anyone getting married in 2021

5) Ariana loves Harry Potter and named her dogs Snape, Lily and Sirius Black after characters in the J.K. Rowling books. Are you a Harry Potter fan? I was late to the Potter party, but once I read all the books and saw all the movies--I made up for lost time!  I am a Potterhead for life!!!

6) She loves board games, especially Monopoly. Sam isn't crazy about Monopoly because it takes so long. How about you? Are you a Monopoly fan? Ewww--NO!
7) In 2018, the year this song was released, Toys R Us closed all its stores and went out of business. Who received the last toy you purchased? What was it? my great-nephew received a ToyStory themed toy

8) Also in 2018, Aretha Franklin died. What's your favorite Aretha song? I'm very fond of "Think"

9) Random question: Are you more likely to shed a tear at a wedding or during a movie? probably a wedding, although I shed tears almost daily about something--I cry when I'm happy, sad, frustrated, tired, laughing, you name it!

I *only* cry at movies. I have a very hard time crying in my day-to-day. My shrink tells me that this gets in the way of my mourning process and is why some losses (specifically my uncle's death) just keep influencing my here and now. I wonder if I couldn't just watch Casablanca over and over until I've worked it through. Don't you wish it was that simple?

I love how fond you are of your stepmother! Just reading what you wrote made me happy.

Nice to find someone else who cries about all sorts of things!

I wish I could cry more. I bottle it up until I choke on it.

That's great that you have that kind of relationship with your step-mother.

Yes, I agree with Stacy that is so nice you have such a good relationship with your step mother! Loved your answers! Have a nice weekend!

I love that you're a Hufflepuff. I've always been to afraid to take the Potter-Verse test, for fear that I'd be Slytherin. Silly, I know, but it is what it is.

I make so many mistakes that they teach me MUCH more than the successes.
Gilda really was wonderful, her amazing ability to do "weird" so well. Love her.
Maybe I'll give those Harry Potter books another try. I really did start to like the Harry Potter characters, once my sister gave us the movies. Have a great week, Kwizgiver.
