ten things tuesday

I am...

Reading:  The Dinner List but so far it's a "meh"

Listening to:  the 5th installment of the Cormoran Strike series Troubled Blood

Loving:  the incredible fall colors

Thinking:  about my finances and what a disaster they are

Feeling:  unhurried, unrushed, slow

Celebrating:  Potato Harvest Break--which is a two-week break from school. Back in the day, there were so many family farms that relied on manual labor (their own children and other kids) that the family would pull the kids from school to help with the harvest. I am not so sure why we continue having Harvest Break as most kids do not do the manual harvest jobs which have become mechanized and you need to be at least 18 to operate the machines. It was a rite of passage when I was a kid. Now, not so much. But it's a tradition.

Grateful for:  a chance to take a break from the overwhelming demands of school--I'm trying very hard to NOT do school work

Weather: it is 73° and humid and partly cloudy

Enjoying:  vacation!

A quote I want to share:

The sun's away,
And the bird estranged;
The wind has dropped,
And the sky's deranged;
Summer has stopped.
–Robert Browning (1812–89)
