happy day 30

Happy day 30: my students all agreed that they enjoyed our class activities today. It was a satisfying feeling that all the classes were engaged.

One class was ending our Progressives unit from the turn of the 20th Century--we were talking about muckrakers from history and bringing the concept to contemporary times. We listed artists (Banksy, Lil Wayne, Childish Gambino, Morgan Spurlock, and a slew of women that I can't recall the whole list right now) and discussed how they are stirring society to act. A lively, engaged discussion.

You are probably right, children today probably look up to a sports figure or an actor or actress.

I love this! Everything we have in spades today began yesterday, didn't it? I'm reading about the 1930s Gloria Vanderbilt custody trial, which seems to have been the birth of celebrity journalism. Heiresses and nobility were America's first reality stars.
