fishing for compliments...

Ten things I never get compliments on. In no particular order:

1) My current fragrance. Maybe it doesn't smell nice on me. I'm nose-blind to it. I am wearing Philosophy Live Joyously described as: a fragrance that's perfect for a day spent in the outdoors or a night out on the town. Created in 2014, this scent for women opens up with sweet notes of tangerine to give you that burst of energy you need to start your day. Pink peony provides a fresh, floral heart for an ultra-feminine feel, while patchouli rounds out the base for an earthy note that lingers on your skin and in the air.

2) My cooking. Granted I don't cook very often but when I do, I get no kudos.

3) Etiquette or manners.

4) Driving. I prefer to do the driving. Actually, it might be a compliment that my dad said he didn't mind riding with me because I drove fast enough that he didn't get bored.

5) Trying new things. No one ever acknowledges when I step out of my comfort zone.

6) The feedback I give my students. They probably don't even read the comments and suggestions I make on their assignments.

7) Checking in with my family daily. I message my sisters every day just to touch base. I wonder if they would notice if I skipped a day?

8) My sense of humor. No one else seems to find me funny. Especially not my students.

9) My hair. This is pure vanity. I used to get a lot of compliments on my red hair--because it's fluffy. The red is fading and the compliments have, too.

10) Book recommendations. In reality, I think people don't bother reading what I recommend.

Good for you on #5. I struggle with it more and more with time.
