finished reading

I'm not really sure what to say about this book--I love history, I love fiction, I love historical fiction. But I didn't love this book.

The historical detail is amazing. The characters are wonderful. But there's no plot, no tension, no real story.

Let me ask you this: In real life, Mrs. Keckley "turned on" Mary and wrote a tell all. At least that's how Mary viewed Mrs. Keckley's book, as a gross betrayal. Does this book address that? Does Mrs. Keckley have a side?

This book gives Elizabeth's perspective of her memoir--and Mary's reaction to it.
