monday musing

Musing Mondays asks you to muse about one of the following each week…

• Describe one of your reading habits.
• Tell us what book(s) you recently bought for yourself or someone else, and why you chose that/those book(s).
• Tell us what you’re reading right now — what you think of it, so far; why you chose it; what you are (or, aren’t) enjoying about it.
• What book are you currently desperate to get your hands on? Tell us about it!
• Do you have a bookish rant? Something about books or reading (or the industry) that gets your ire up? Share it with us!
• Instead of the above questions, maybe you just want to ramble on about something else pertaining to books — let’s hear it, then!

For most of my life, I was a book hoarder. I held on to all the books I read. I didn't even lend them out. But all that changed a few years ago. Then I started sharing, passing books along. And then I started giving them away. If I lent it, I had the borrower pass it along to someone else. And I've given away almost all my physical books. After a couple years of passing books along, I entered the eReader world. I haven't looked back. I know I've mentioned before that the only complaint I have about eReaders is that it isn't easy to share books.

I'm a bit of a book hoarder LOL I'm planning on donating some this year, though.

I'm in the same boat! My books are overflowing and completely taking over my living areas. I plan on going through them all and donating most before my big move this summer. It's great to hear you've enjoyed giving yours away. Part of me thinks I'll miss having all of my books, but I know I'll enjoy sharing them more.

I have some books that I hold onto and some I lend to friends (and expect back in the same condition) others I lend and say pass on. If they aren't the sort of books my friends enjoy then I give to the charity shop or leave in cafes for others to pick up. I like the thought of someone finding something good to read (a bit like Bookcrossing but I live on a small island)

I still have a lot of paper copies but I do cull them so I have room for more. My Post at Mixed Book Bag

I usually collect for a year years then when I'm getting ready to move, I donate whatever I don't think I'll reread to a local library. This weekend I'll be doing a small cull to find some books my Dad might enjoy in my ongoing attempt to turn him into a reader.
