• When you walk into a bookstore — any bookstore — what’s the first section you head toward (what draws you)?

I usually look over the new release shelves--both hard cover and paper back. They generally are the most buzzed about books and I love starting there. Then I'll wander over to the general fiction section and look at the book covers that are featured. I also check out the end caps to see what is featured there, too. Oh, if there is a Staff Recommendations shelf, I check that out.

I too, like to check out the new releases, and then like to look at the bargain bins.

We all have our favorites. While I love SciFi I also read from other areas. Thanks for visiting.

I will be at those crowded bargain tables too!

Like you, I start with new releases. From there it depends on my mood. I could head on back to mysteries or maybe I'll go looking through entertainment to see if there are any neat new coffee table books featuring photos I've never seen of the Beatles or anyone else I'm kind of obsessed with.

I sometimes check out new releases when I'm there, but it's not usually where I start. You never know when you're going to find a great new book that's just been published!

I love staff recommendations! Not enough bookstores have them.

Interesting answer.

At the used book store where I work, the first section I check is the old books, to see what has come in this week.

At Borders, before it closed, I first checked out the computer section (because it was closest to the front door).

At our indie store, I check the shelves with books by local authors (John Lescroart is one)

(This would make a great TMA question)
