ten things tuesday...

Ten random things:

1) I have a student teacher. He showed up yesterday, unexpectedly. I was so unprepared. I hate being unprepared. This is a professional courtesy because his dad teaches at the middle school. And I felt obligated. I actually was dating his dad when I first started this blog. So, that makes things awkward for me.

2) The kids are testing today. It's out of their comfort zone because it's an essay test over the Reform Movement. They actually have to write. Some of them are melting down about it, but I'm trying to keep my patience.

3) Saw this picture and it made me really happy.

4) So did this picture:

5) Did I mention that my students are testing today? The prompt is:
"American reform movements between 1820 and 1860 reflect both optimistic and pessimistic views of human nature and society." Is that quotation true? Choose three of the following reform movements and describe how that quotation is true or not true. Make sure you mention the leader(s) of the reform movement. Education, Temperance, Women's rights, Utopian experiments, Prison reform, Abolition.
I think it's complex yet it lets them really show off what they have learned about reform.

6) Today I am wearing my purple Mary Janes. I feel so cute!

7) I have worn brown two days in a row. I think I need to pick a different color for tomorrow. But I love brown.

8) It wouldn't bother me to eat the same food for each meal every day.

9) The sun is shining in the windows of my classroom and it is making me happy.

10) Last year, about this time, I paid tribute to my sister whose birthday is Friday and she is turning 50. My sisters and I got her a Spa Day: massage, facial, mani & pedi. I also got her the book 50 Things To Do When You Turn 50, and a new journal. I wish we could spend the day together.

Happy Birthday to your sister! I LOVE those purple mary janes, but I know how you love your neutrals. #5 sounds daunting -- I am impressed by your students. And the student teacher thing? It does sound awkward.
