8/1:
Today I had medical appointments--a wellness visit with my PCP and later on, an eye treatment. Both visits were filled with lists of questions I had written. My PCP is awesome! He clearly answered each of my questions with explanations and did it without mansplaining. He spent time with me. And I'm pleased to report that all of my bloodwork numbers have improved, my liver scan showed no signs of cirrhosis. I felt respected and heard. And not once did he scold me about my weight.
Later that afternoon was another eye injection. The tech was able to answer most of my questions. Because the procedure means a lot of time with the tech, it was conversational and informative. When the doctor joined us, she patiently answered my remaining questions. And although the information was not what I wanted to hear, I now have answers.
My happy challenge is off to an amazing start--all of my healthcare team left me feeling valued, respected, and knowledgeable.
