1) In January, I received an email from my insurance company about setting resolutions and goals that focus on well-being. The email mentioned a mental health check-up. Since I haven't been in therapy for a few years, I thought I would look into a check-up. Especially since insurance covered the expenses.
2) Aspire365 is the name of the program. I am committing to one year of mental and physical health.
3) I have a team of providers: a case manager, who I refer to as my concierge, since she coordinates all of the services and keeps me on track with appointments and scheduling.
4) A nurse practitioner to check with vitals and monitor weight and biometrics.
5) A psychiatrist who will assist my primary care with medicine issues, concerns, and/or changes.
6) A life coach /peer coach whose focus is on present happenings and concerns of the day-to-day variety.
7) A therapist focusing on interpersonal stuff, self-care, setting and maintaining boundaries, and managing anxiety, depression, and OCD/hoarding.
8) Therapy is worth the effort, though.
9) I started at the right time--because I am willing and able to do the work.
10) And I recommend The Self-Care Prescription by Robyn Gobin. I've learned what real self-care is. Plus the journal is handy.
