ten things tuesday

TV Shows or Movies I’ll Always Rewatch – Those comforting classics that never get old.

1)  Under the Tuscan Sun.  There's something about reinventing yourself in a foreign country where you can be anyone you want.

2)  The Holiday.  This movie charmed me from the get-go.  Even people that seemingly have it all don't have it together.  I love the journeys these women take.

3) Friends. Although some episodes have not withstood the test of time, they are a favorite. I'll be there for them.

4)  M*A*S*H.  With a dramatic war-time setting, there's humanity and humor among the chaos.  I have seen every episode.

5)  The Golden Girls.  Shocking to think that I am the age of the actors.  And the characters.  When this show was first broadcast I aspired to be like them--full of sugar and spice.

6)  The Princess Bride.  I remember wondering how the actors kept a straight face in some of those scenes with fast-paced, witty dialog.

7)  With Honors.  I show this movie to my Advanced Placement Psychology students at the end of the year as a companion to the "life report card" activity.  It would be a different movie if it were set today in the age of technology and smartphones.  It accurately portrays found family and the friendships made during college.

8)  60 Minutes. Hearing the familiar ticking clock gives me comfort that the stories will be compelling. I've shown my students decades-old segments.

9)  Charlie Brown holiday specials.  Snoopy is the dog of my heart.  I've grown up watching the Peanuts Gang.

10)  Ted Lasso.  Ted Lasso is an optimistic American football coach who moves to England to manage a struggling soccer team. His infectious positivity and kindness gradually win over his skeptical team and community.

Of course it went through that time. I haven't seen the Princess Bride. I keep trying to catch it on TV but so far have failed to do so. I would add Steel Magnolias to that list - that's another movie that I don't mind having on - and Grease.

Friends and MASH. Marathons of those shows have gotten me through a lot.
