Ten strategies to help overcome perfectionism:
1. Set realistic goals: Aim for progress, not perfection. Celebrate the small goals met along the way to a larger goal.
2. Embrace mistakes: View mistakes as opportunities to learn and grow, rather than failures.
3. Practice self-compassion: Be kind to yourself when things stray from the plan. Treat yourself as you would a friend.
4. Prioritize self-care: Make time for activities that bring joy and relaxation. Taking care of yourself is essential.
5. Challenge negative thoughts: Replace critical self-talk with positive affirmations.
6. Focus on the Process: Enjoy the journey rather than fixate on the end result. This was a game-changer for me, and it helped me unlock many of the others on this list.
7. Set boundaries: Learn to say no and protect your time and energy from overwhelming demands. For years, decades even, I didn't know I could do this.
8. Seek support: Talk to friends, family, or a therapist about your perfectionism and ask for their support. Therapy is the best thing I've ever done for myself!
9. Practice mindfulness: Stay in the moment and be aware of thoughts and feelings. Focusing on breathing helps me find the moment.
10. Celebrate imperfection: Imperfection is part of being human. Embrace the beauty of imperfection in yourself and others.

I need to take this list to heart, esp. #3. You're so right about #8, too.
