ten things tuesday

Ten lessons I've learned from failure:

1)  Failure is temporary.

2)  When things are failing, remember to breathe.  Deep breaths.  Focus on the immediate moment.

3)  Take care of myself.  Step out of the muck and do something just for me.  As simple as an afternoon coffee, a steaming cup of tea, or hot cocoa with whipped cream--something out of my usual routine.

4)  Wallow.  Take ten or so minutes to get down in the dumps.  Really get into the depths of my feelings. It's all right to feel disappointed.  And then let it go.

5)  Failure does not define me.  It took a few attempts to get my license.  It took a few job interviews to land my teaching job.  Each failure was a blow to my ego, but not one defined me.

6)  Failure can lead to better situations.  When I got evicted last January I was devastated to have to move from my home of 29 years and thought I would never find another comfortable home.  But here I am, in a wonderful space.  And it's relatively clutter-free!  I have people over!

7)  When one door closes, another door (or sometimes a window) opens.

8)  Failure is part of the process.

9)  Grow through what you go through.*

10)  Que sera, sera.

*I don't know who to attribute that quote to as there are multiple sources.
