1. Who is your best friend and why? What do you like to do together? my bestie and I have been friends since 1983 although we didn't become super close until 1986. We like doing everything together--traveling, shopping, eating, movies, theater, and most of all talking
2. What is your town like? What are your favorite places to go? my town is considered a small city and is in a very rural, isolated part of the state of Maine however it is a university town with two colleges and a vibrant bookish community and my favorite places to go are the library and the neighborhood park
3. What is your favorite meal? Where and when do you eat it? breakfast is my favorite meal and there's nothing I love more than restaurant breakfast! The only time I'll eat pancakes is breakfast for dinner
4. What is your job like? What do you like about it? as a high school social studies teacher my job is like performing to several different audiences every day. No two classes are alike and no two students are alike. I like encouraging students to become curious lifelong learners.
5. What is your favorite place to go on vacation? last summer I spent three weeks at my Virginia sister's place and had the best relaxing vacation!
6. What country would you like to visit one day? one day I'll return to Ireland! Although I would love to take a European River Cruise
7. What bores you the most? hostile social media and politics
8. What are you looking forward to this summer? buying new furniture

10. Do you sing in the shower? no, I do not
11. What is the best gift you’ve ever received? truly any gift
12. Do you prefer being indoors or outdoors? indoors
13. When was the last time you cried, and why? I think it was Thursday and it was for no particular reason--I frequently cry to relieve stress
14. What do you keep in your bag or handbag? I carry a wrist pouch and people call me Mary Poppins because I have everything!
15. Can you play a musical instrument? nothing formal but I can keep time so I play percussion things

New furniture! That is something to look forward to! Yay!
Breakfast is my favorite meal too, though crab and lamb are my favorite dinner dishes. I love going out for breakfast, though we almost never do.
I was surprised to learn what a literary place Maine is when we were touring Portland. Then I was sad we didn't have time to explore all the things I'd learned about. Some of my favorite mystery writers are either in Maine or set their books in Maine. I really need to get back there one day.
