At Last

1) Etta James sings that "life is like a song." What song reflects how you feel about life these days? Let It Be by The Beatles

2) She is delighted to have found the love she has always dreamed of. Have you found true love to be the way you imagined it would be? Or has it surprised you? I have found true love to be elusive and that surprises me

3) Etta's mother encouraged her to not just sing but perform a song, telling her daughter, "Even if a song has been done a thousand times, you can still bring something of your own to it." Is there a singer whose performances often touch your heart? there are many

4) As a teen, she was considered a gospel prodigy and churches all around Los Angeles requested she "guest" at their services. Do you have a favorite religious song? "The Prayer of St Francis"

5) "At Last" is one of the most often requested songs for the newlywed's first dance at the reception. What song reminds you of a sweetheart?  "Roll to Me" by Del Amitri

This is the last Saturday 9 before Valentine's Day and so this morning we shall focus on the upcoming holiday.

6) It's been reported that millions of roses are grown specifically for Valentine's Day each year. What's your favorite flower? peonies

7) The earliest recorded celebration of Valentine's Day was in Paris in the year 1400. Obviously you weren't around for that one. What do you remember from one of your earliest, childhood Valentine's Day celebrations? I remember being able to buy Valentines at the store--that was such a treat

8) About 20% of pet owners say they give their dogs, cats, birds or bunnies a Valentine. Is your pet getting something special on February 14? if I had a pet, they would get a Valentine!

9) Of all the professions, teachers are #1 when it comes to receiving Valentine cards. Did you ever have a crush on a teacher? at University College Cork I had a major crush on my Irish (language) teacher--he was a hottie!

I am what most would consider "happily married" but I am not sure there's such a thing as "true love." Love is work and dedication. And a little bit of luck.

You mentioned college and it made me think of my first years at college. It was the year of streakers running around campus with only shoes on. I also had a professor that like to be on stage with light colored pants and know underwear. Gross! I moved to the back of the class. I was married and told my husband and he said gross too.

Well our dog doesn't read, so he won't get a Valentine, but he might get a bit of a treat that he's get anyway.

Peonies are so pretty. I can't seem to get them to grow so I am glad my neighbor has a lot of them that face our house I can enjoy.
#9 You say Irish hottie and I'm thinking Pierce Brosnan. :)

I keep meaning to dig up my old Del Amitri CD. It's here somewhere ... (I'm not as organized as you now are.)

I sent my friend Elaine a Valentine on behalf of her two new cats (For the Best Mom). Does that count?
