ten things tuesday

Ten favorite mythical things or creatures:

1)  Gnomes.  My Christmas tree theme is gnomes.  I love the tree topper!

2)  Leprechauns.  I swear on my life that I saw one when I was in Ireland.

3)  Unicorns.  I believe in fancy horses.  So does Scotland!

4)  Griffins.  I like the idea of this regal creature.  Even though I'm not a Gryffindor.

5)  Vampires.  But the kind from Interview With The Vampire by Anne Rice, because it was the only book I could find in English when I was in the old part of Barcelona and needed a new book to read.  The atmosphere of the old city, the cafe, and the book created quite a memory.

6)  Avalon.  The idea of this hidden, magical realm fascinates me.  I loved The Mists of Avalon by Marion Zimmer Bradley.

7)  Excalibur.  Kind of goes with Avalon.  But this is one of my favorite movies. It's so epic!

8)  Hestia.  Kind of an overlooked Greek goddess, but her story was one of my favorites.  I remember teaching a unit on Greek mythology when I was student teaching and everyone had a favorite myth.  That's a memory from the depths of my bank.

9)  Pixies.  Magical tricksters.  I think of them as benign tricksters.

10)  Witches.  I saved the best for last.  I love the witchy world of conjuring and healing.

Until this moment, I've never heard of Hestia. Now I want to learn more.

How cute is that illustration of your and your unicorn?
