saturday 9

Old Me

Unfamiliar with this week's tune? Hear it here.

We're bidding adieu to the old year with a song
about looking back.
Thanks for participating in Saturday 9 during 2023.

1) In this song, the lead singer thanks his younger self for everything he learned from past experience. What's something you learned in 2023? I learned that I march to the beat of my own drummer and I'm ok with it

2) He admits he did some things he wished he hadn't. Did you do anything in 2023 you wish you could take back? I might go out more during down time in Tampa--like the baseball game was all everyone was talking about but I stayed at the hotel and read

3) This music video consists of old photographs. Do you have many photos lingering on your phone or camera? Or are you prompt about downloading them? yes, I have loads of photos on my phone and I'm very lazy about downloading them

4) This week's featured artist is 5 Seconds of Summer, a band from Australia. Have you ever been to the land down under? If not, would you like to go? I have not been and I would love to go

5) In 2020, when this song was popular, "murder hornets," aka the giant Asian hornet, were spotted for the first time in the United States. Are you afraid of bugs? yes!

6) Enough about 2020! Let's look back on 2023. Did you travel this past year? YES!  I spent the summer in Virginia, a week in my state's capitol, a week in Tampa, and a few weekends away

7) What was the biggest purchase that you made in 2023? I can't think of anything big

8) What was your favorite book of 2023? Tom Lake by Ann Patchett, The Heaven and Earth Grocery Store by James McBride, Killers of a Certain Age by Deanna Raybourn, Spare by Prince Harry, The Guncle by Stephen Rowley, Someone Else's Shoes by Jojo Moyes, Looking For Jane by Heather Marshall, and No Two Persons by Erica Bauermeister (I picked from different genres since I had so many amazing reads this year)

9) What are you looking forward to most in 2024? the possibilities!

I have a few of your favorite books on my TBR list. I need to get those read.
We went to a Tampa Bay baseball game when we went to visit Florida. It was fun. Loved your answers! Have a nice weekend and Happy New Year 2024. ♥

If it makes you feel any better, at the time you were in FL, the Rays were off to what looked like a legendary start. If they'd won the Series, you would have missed something historic. But they choked, and their 2023 early win streak is now just a footnote. Besides, how you can regret time spent reading?
