Personal History

1.  What would you like people to know about your mother? she was beloved by many--people who know her still tell me about the impact she had on them, and she's been dead for 50 years
2.  What would you like people to know about your father? I have a mother-daughter relationship with my dad and it's a privilege to assist him as he gets older
3.  What was your childhood bedroom like? it had polka dot curtains and a polka dot fabric border on the ceiling and I shared it with my Virginia sister until we were in high school
4.  What was your favorite activity as a child? listening to my records
5.  What was high school like for you? I was involved in the drama club, and yearbook, and took honors classes but I wasn't a very dedicated student--my activities were everything
6.  Write about your cousins. on my mother's side, I have an extensive extended family and it's always a great time when we see each other (even if it's for a funeral) on my father's side I have three cousins that I don't really know
7.  What was your favorite food as a child? mashed potatoes
8.  What was your most memorable birthday? my 40th birthday was pretty darn fantastic
9.  What world events were significant to you as a child? the death of my mother--that rocked my world
10. What did a typical day look like as a child? school and then watching tv game shows and getting supper ready and doing laundry
11. Write about your grandparents. I dream about my paternal grandparents often
12. Did you move as a child? no
13. Who taught you to drive? the driver's ed instructor at my high school
14. Which job has been your favorite? this one
15. What was the best part of your 30s? professionally hitting my stride

I can only imagine how tough it was for you to lose your mom so early.

You lost your mom at a very young age. I don't think they teach driver's ed in school anymore, at least, not around here. But I had it in school as well.

I worked on the yearbook, too, but I'm so old that we were the "annual staff." We have losing our moms when we were young in common. It is not a "club" I would wish on anyone.

I loved TV game shows, too. I was so excited to see that Password is being rebooted. That was my favorite.
