Brandy
1) This song opens in a bar where lonely sailors reminisce about their homes. How long have you lived at your current residence? Does it feel like home? I have lived here for 27 years and it definitely feels like home
2) Brandy is a waitress at the bar. Have you ever worked at a job where you received tips? I waitressed
3) Brandy wears a locket on a braided chain. Are you wearing any jewelry as you answer these 9 questions? I am not
4) According to the lyrics, the sailors seem to prefer whisky or wine. What's your go-to adult beverage? I like a tequila drink--like a margarita
5) This song was such a big hit that, after its release, Brandy became a popular name for newborn girls. Do you know anyone named Brandy? a former student
6) Barry Manilow scored a hit in 1974 with "Mandy." That song was initially called "Brandy," but it was changed to avoid confusion with this record. Do you have a favorite Barry Manilow song? Copacabana, of course!
7) In 1972, when this song was popular, residents of South Dakota endured a catastrophic flood when Rapid Creek overflowed. Give us a little geography lesson: what body of water is nearest you? the Aroostook River and the Presque Isle streams almost make my town an island
8) Also in 1972, the first women were permitted to run in the Boston marathon. Have you ever visited Boston? I have
9) Random summertime question: Would you prefer to swim in a pool, a lake/river, or the ocean? not necessarily for swimming, but I do like dipping my toes in the ocean

#1 -- May you stay as long as you're happy!
#9 -- I like walking the beach along the ocean, and wading in so my lovely pedicure can enjoy the sea, but I don't like swimming.
Copacabana is a fun song. I can see why you don't want to swim in ocean up there. When I was a kid we took a driving vacation through New England. I wanted to go to the beach so much. Dad kept putting me off saying I could go when we got to Maine. Our hotel was right on the beach and I was so excited but it was soooo COLD!
I would have liked to visited the Copacabana in its heyday.
My brother place in Kennebunk the water is cold but that didn't stop their grand kids from going into the water until they turned blue.
I like sitting beside the ocean, or walking along it, but not swimming in it. Give me a pool for that!
I love the beach, but our local beaches are pretty cold! Loved swimming in Hawaii's warm waters.
Really loved your pick of Copacabana.. hawt!
I swam, body surfed, and boogy boarded in the Pacific ocean, but the waters here only get down to 55 or so in the winter. There's a cold devil of a current called the California Current, that sends it even lower, now and again. The temps stay around 68 or little higher in in summer. The California Current eddies south along the coast, pushed by B.C. and Alaskan waters..oka the Humbolt. The temps get up to around 64 or little higher in in summer. And that, my sweet knitterly friend, is the long and the short of it.
The older I get the fussier I get. I get so hot, I almost need to be in the water the whole time I am out. I just need to get another pool of my own so I can lay on my mat and get a tan. I haven't done that in years though. Loved your answers! Have a nice weekend.

Sounds like we all like the ocean, but not to swim in. Good thing, given how the sharks are coming back now1
