goodbye 2021

In 2021, I gained: better technological skills.

I lost: touch with some former students who meant a lot.

I stopped: comparing myself to other teachers.

I started: new traditions (like reading Christmas chick-lit for the last month of the year)

I was hugely satisfied by: my efforts to avoid Covid.

And frustrated by: how others didn't take Covid precations the way I thought they should.

I am so embarrassed that I: started taking the elevator at school.  I absolutely need to get back to the stairs.

Once again, I: smashed my reading goal!  I read 96 books.

Once again, I did not: consistently walk the paths at Mantle Lake Park.

The biggest physical difference between me last December and this December is: my hair is awesome!

The biggest psychological difference between me last December and this December is: I am recognizing depression symptoms more than I did a year ago.

I loved spending time: knitting and reading.

Why did I spend even two minutes: concerned with the defamatory comments made by a former student.  He's ill and taking it out on me and some other teachers he had over a decade ago.

I should have spent more time: outside, enjoying the new porch chairs.

I regret buying: two pairs of boots that just don't work with lymphedema ankles.

I will never regret buying: yarn even though with that money I could have: paid off small bills.

I didn’t: road trip enough.

Political fighting, armchair physicians, and loudmouths drove me crazy.

The most relaxing place I went to was: Chebeague Island.

Why did I go to: Central Maine by myself.  I should have invited my retired friend to join me.

The best thing I did for someone else was: give my sister yarn from my stash.

The best thing I did for myself: explain that an outdoor adventure (sailing) was not anything that sounded even remotely like fun--and opted out of it.

The best thing someone did for me: pick up coffee to save me from having to go out during a storm.  I have the best neighbors!

The one thing I’d like to do again, but do it better, is create meal plans, and branch out.

Me, Myself, and I said...

Your reading is amazing. I mean, you KILLED that goal. Thanks for the tip on the Brooklyn Library, I'm thinking about taking the plunge.
