saturday 9

Werewolves of London

1) In this song, Warren Zevon sees a werewolf with a Chinese menu in his hand. He wanted beef chow mein. If we Saturday 9ers got together for Chinese, what would you likely order? I'd likely get steamed dumplings or pineapple chicken

2) He also says the werewolf's hair was perfect. Are you having a good hair day? yes

3) Linda Ronstadt was a big Warren Zevon fan and recorded several of his songs. Do you have a favorite Linda Ronstadt song? today I'll pick "Anyone Who Had A Heart"

4) Warren Zevon admitted being afraid of doctors and avoided check ups. Are you scared when you go to the doctor or dentist for a routine visit?
I'm comfortable with my doctor but terrified of the dentist--absolutely terrified of the dentist

5) In 1935, the movie Werewolf of London was released. Do you enjoy being frightened by scary movies? I'm not a fan of slasher films--too gory but I enjoy a psychological thriller

6) In your younger days, did you ever trick or treat while dressed as a monster? no, I never dressed as a monster

7) When you were a kid, what sweet treats were you happiest to receive? I loved Tootsie Pops or Tootsie Rolls

8) Can you see any Halloween decorations as you answer these 9 questions? no

9) Halloween is most popular in the United States and Canada, and isn't really celebrated at all in Japan or South Korea. How would you explain our Halloween customs to a visitor from another land?  it's a dress-up festival for young kids, maybe early teens; in some regions, the costumed kids will be treated with candy

I'd never heard her version of "Anyone Who Had a Heart" and it was terrific! I think Dusty Springfield's was perfect, but this was so so good. Thanks for sharing.

I'm very lucky that my dentist is also my friend (was my friend before being my dentist) and I enjoy going to the office so we can catch up on what our lives have been like since the last appointment. She's also completely painless.

#3 Wow, I thought that I knew all her song but I don't think that I heard this song before.

Another steamed dumplings fan!!! Do you have Dim Sum places in your part of Maine--they are fun and my Lord, the sheer volume of types of dumplings. Crazy.

Tootsie rolls…haven’t had those in awhile.

Mmm...pineapple chicken sounds delicious. I've never had it, but I love pineapple so I'm sure I'd like it.

I'm not terrified of going to the dentist, but it isn't my favorite thing to do. My lack of fear has a lot to do with my current dentist. He is really good and really FAST. I'm usually in and out before I have much time to think about it.

I spend a lot of time with my dentist because of TMJ issues. Fortunately she's a very nice person. My husband is afraid of the dentist, too.

I loved to get abbadabas as a treat. That Linda Ronstadt song is beautiful. Happy knitting, my friend.

I am the opposite on #4, but we agree on so many. I can't wait for this Chinese dinner we are all going to have. Loved your answers. Have a nice weekend.

I love the song you picked. Just beautiful.
Ooooo! Tootsie pops! They really were the best. My brother and I shared the candy haul, so we divvied up the tootsie pops most carefully. I’d have to trade a treasured abbadabba for the extra tootsie pop.
