Cooking
1. How often do you make food and eat it? since quarantining began--more frequently
2. Do you consider toasting bread, preparing instant noodles, or boiling an egg to be cooking? Why or why not? maybe not toasting bread--but yes to the rest because timing is everything
3. What’s your favorite dish to make? since quarantining began--shepherd's pie
4. Cooking or baking: what’s more fun? What’s more difficult? cooking is more difficult since it usually means more prep work and more ingredient prepping--and baking is often special occasion stuff
5. Who did most of the cooking in your house when you were growing up? once I hit my teenage years, I did
6. How have you learned the cooking skills that you have? following directions and recipes
7. Have you ever taken a cooking course? If so, what did you learn? If not, would you like to do one? What would you like to learn? I have not, but I always think it would be fun to do
8. Have you tried cooking food from another culture? What did you prepare? How was it? I've made a few dishes, especially after traveling abroad with a modicum of success
9. Is it cost-effective to do your own cooking? Can you save money by cooking? not especially to both questions
10. Would you rather do the cooking or do the washing up afterward? it depends on what meal it is and for how many people--as a singleton it's all me all the time
11. Do you use recipes to cook? If so, where do you get the best recipes? Do you get them from friends, family, online, or from cookbooks? I use recipes--usually passed on from word of mouth
12. Have you ever tried to prepare some food and just totally ruined it? What happened? yes
13. Do you prefer cooking at home or eating out at a restaurant? Why? well--ease, convenience, variety, and portion control make eating at restaurants preferable
14. Is cooking a social activity for you? Do you like to do it with other people, or do you prefer to do it alone? it's more fun when it's social
15. Do you have a lot of cooking equipment? How often do you use it all? Do you have any pieces of equipment that you rarely ever use? yes--I have a well-equipped kitchen full of items I don't use

You’re not going to share what you ruined?
Shepherds pie sounds great
It is hard to cook just for yourself and it always seems like so much trouble to go through when I am cooking just for myself. Loved your answers! Have a nice day!

#15 -- I wonder how much less clutter we'd have if we could just part with those kitchen things we might use "someday."
