The Friday 56

Rules:
*Grab a book, any book.
*Turn to page 56 or 56% in your eReader
(If you have to improvise, that's ok.)
*Find any sentence, (or few, just don't spoil it)
*Post it.

I'm listening to The Seven Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle.

As ordered, Cunningham's waiting for me in the library. He's sitting on the edge of a chair, the letter I gave him unfolded and trembling slightly in his hand. He stands as I enter but in my desire to put the sunroom behind me, I moved too quickly. I can hear myself breathing queasy, desperate bursts from my overburdened lungs. He doesn't venture to help.

Interesting opening. What is wrong with her? What did the note say?

I’ve been meaning to do this for a couple years. I’m just a darn flake.

I got an eARC of this, but I couldn't get in to it. It did have some minor formatting issues because of it being an ARC. I keep wondering if I should give it another chance.
