about the weather

We have had 2 consecutive days off from school due to the ferocious winds and wind chills. This has NEVER happened before. About a dozen roads were actually closed. Cars were abandoned. Never! I know I've whined and ranted about the weather this winter but--this is extreme!

From Tuesday night:
...Strong wind gusts to continue overnight...
…Dangerously Cold Wind Chills expected into Wednesday...

**Winds will diminish some overnight, but some stronger gusts still expected. This will lead to some whiteouts at times overnight with blowing and drifting snow. Travel will remain hazardous overnight, mainly in the open areas.

> Wind chills will continue to drop overnight into Wednesday morning. Wind Chill Warnings and Advisories remain in place. Some sites across northern Aroostook County could see wind chill readings near -40F by Wednesday morning.
