Happy Holidays! (from the archives)

1. As you can see, Sam loved giving her annual wish list to Santa. Yet some children are reluctant to climb into Jolly Old St. Nick's lap. Did you enjoy the tradition or were you shy? Or did you by pass it altogether -- either because you wrote him a letter or because your family didn't celebrate Christmas? I love all things Santa!

2. Are you currently on the Naughty or Nice list? How did you get there? I'm on the nice list! I did some hard work to get my act together this year

3. Did you ship any gifts to friends and family this year? If so, which one traveled the farthest?
Virginia

4. Did you buy yourself a gift this year?
I planned to but now that my car needs expensive repairs, it looks like that's going to be it

5. What's your favorite holiday-themed movie? Have you seen it yet this year? Elf and I have not watched it yet--I'm saving it for Christmas Eve

6. Thinking of movies, Christmas is lucrative for Hollywood. Have you ever gone to a movie theater on Christmas Day?
it used to be a tradition for my friends and I to go

7. Have you ever suffered an embarrassing moment at the company Christmas party? it's been so long since I've been to one, I can't remember

8. What's your favorite beverage in cold weather? hot cocoa

9. Share a memory from last Christmas. Had a lovely day until I got my car stuck in freshly fallen 2 feet of snow.

You sound like you have a car-trouble theme going there. I am sorry to hear of that. Good luck and happy holidays!

I only remember one Christmas with that much snow. It was Christmas of 1981. Mom, Dad and I left after supper and opening our own presents on Christmas Eve to make the 3-4 hour drive to my grandparents to spend the night with all the family and have Christmas together. We were packed like sardines into a little blue Ford Fiesta...us, all the presents and whatnot and our big heavy coats. It started to snow as we drove north and it got really bad (blizzard bad) very quickly. Dad had to drive incredibly slow and we saw no other cars on the road. We finally made it to my grandparents at 2:00 in the morning. The whole family was frantic and ready to start calling the police, hospitals, etc. It turns out the blizzard was so bad a state of emergency had been declared and all the interstates had been closed. Somehow we didn't hear that! It was a nerve-wracking ride. When we got up in the morning, the men went out to shovel out the cars and start them up to let them run a bit since it was so cold. I remember that when they lifted the hoods all you saw was a solid sheet of white. The wind had blown the snow up under the cars and up solid into every space! It took 2 or 3 days to get them thawed out.

I watched Elf for the first time last year. Then I wound up watching it like 20 times after that. This year I have only watched it twice plus various stop by's on cable when it was running.
Enjoy your holiday!
