saturday 9

Think

1) This song is about a woman who works hard as a waitress. What's the hardest job you've ever had? oh my gosh, waitressing was the hardest job--people are gross

2) The lyrics tell us she has worked at this job for 28 years. What's the longest you stayed with one employer?
my current job, I'm starting my 21st year

3) Donna Summer was inspired to write this song during an awards show. She ducked into the bathroom and met the elderly ladies' room attendant, whose job it was to make sure the room the spotless, the complimentary hairspray and moisturizer was abundant, and there was a hot towel for every celebrity who used the facilities. "Wow," Donna thought, "she works hard for those tips." Who is the last person you tipped? I tipped my waitress at lunch

4) Early in her career, Donna was in the touring company of the musical Hair. It played in Munich for so long that she became fluent in German. What's the longest you have ever lived away from home? I lived away from home for a school year, teaching in Western Maine

5) Sam's dad is naturally outgoing and enjoys striking up conversations with waitresses, librarians, the checker at the supermarket, etc. Sam is always polite but more private. Are you more like father or daughter? people always talk to me, I don't have to initiate conversations

6) A little more than 10% of the American workforce is self-employed. Have you ever been your own boss? I would not make a good boss

7) Labor Day weekend may offer a golden opportunity for napping and sleeping in. Do you snore? yes

8) Will you be attending a Labor Day picnic or barbecue? I have no plans to, however, my Pennsylvania sister is going to be here tomorrow so there might be a family something or other

9) Labor Day traditionally marks the beginning of the fall. Will you be adding any new fall clothes to your wardrobe? I do not have plans to, but that doesn't mean anything

I think you would make a good boss, it would be just like teaching a class.

I was a terrible boss. I think it's because I have an authority problem ...

See you at the mall, Kwiz! ;)

Are we going to the Mall? Oh, Goody!

I think you would make a good boss. And yes, waitresses work so very hard. It's not a job for the faint of heart.
Enjoy the time with your sibling!

I think waitressing would be a very difficult job. I don't do "public" that well and I can't think of anything more public than waitressing.

Hi Kwiz! I was never a waitress, but I agree, I think it would be very hard. I loved your answers. Have fun with your sister! Enjoy your nice long weekend!

Well, I'd say it's a compliment to you if folks always come up and start talking to you. You must be a good conversationalist. Enjoy your long weekend no matter what you may do.

I never wanted to waitress because I knew I wouldn’t have the patience to do a good job. I do so admire people who are nice and kind even in difficult situations. Enjoyed your answers today.

I agree about waitressing. People can be really, really mean when they are hungry!
