three on thursday

The three things I'm thinking about:

1) A dear colleague and friend's health has taken a turn for the worse--he has been battling colon cancer for a few months but discovered it has spread to his liver. He had planned to retire at the end of this school year and now is planning to retire in December. He needs to focus on health and family now, not grades and lesson plans. His new treatment plan is increasing the intensity of his chemotherapy and I suspect he will lose his hair. I plan to knit some super soft hats for him. He is a dear mentor and friend.

2) My Pennsylvania and Virginia sisters have gotten me hooked on Premier Designs jewelry. I had never heard of it but I love it!

3) At the end of the month, I will be away from school for two days for conferences in central Maine--I'm excited--but it's so hard to plan for substitutes, without leaving book work or busy work! I think I've got some ideas in mind, hopefully, the substitute will follow the plans. I tend to hyper-organize, so it should be step by step!

I'm sorry to read about your colleague. I hope his treatments will help, some. Enjoy the conference and I'm sure you'll come up with some nifty ideas for the subs...that's such a tough job ...appreciate your thinking about how to make the experience a win-win for all: you; kids and sub/s.
Cheers~

I'm sorry about your friend. He -- and you -- will be in my thoughts.
