Checking in on my New Year's Resolutions. I didn't really make resolutions but I set some goals. The big goal is to stop spending money on shit I don't need. So far I have been quite successful at mindful spending.

My word for the year is FIERCE. I've been fierce at school--tackling new challenges both in and out of the classroom. I'm upping the amount of professional reading I'm doing and stretching my wings on content. One of my dear friends is being tested (is that the right word?) for Parkinson's. He and his wife have a lot on their plates and I'm stepping up as a friend to both and offering my support. It's intense and he needs the fierce friendship.

I went back and forth and back and forth when choosing this word. I had momentum built from last year's "Year of Badassery" which is how I chose Fierce. I want to continue being a badass--to continue growing and stepping out of my comfort zone. I'm going to kick up my fierceness!

I loved every word you wrote here! I pray your friend does not have Parkinson's disease. You are a really good friend to step in and help them. With Richard the beginning years weren't so bad but once he had his stroke it exacerbated the Parkinson's. Keep right on being a bad-ass! I love it.
