saturday 9

It's a Man's Man's Man's World

1) Before he was able to support himself as a musician, James Brown shined shoes, boxed, picked peanuts and delivered groceries. He admitted he didn't enjoy any of those jobs. What was your least favorite job? My first teaching job, as an 8th grade language arts/reading teacher was my least favorite job--it was in Western Maine and I was too far from home without a support system and I didn't like my supervising teacher, and the principal didn't like me.

2) What job have you enjoyed the most? the job I have now is the best professional working group I've ever been in

3) James loved performing and in the mid-60s, played 335-350 dates/year. Do you have time off this weekend? Or will you be working? I have an extra day off this weekend--and I got my school work finished Friday afternoon!

4) With that grueling schedule, James spent a lot of time on the road. Do you enjoy traveling and staying in hotels? Or are you a homebody who prefers to sleep in your own bed? I like traveling and am happy to return home. There's something fun about staying at hotels.

5) While Millennials are the largest generation in the workforce, millions of Baby Boomers are still part of American labor. Do you think it's easy or hard for people of different generations to work together? Or don't you think age matters? I notice some differences in how we approach the profession

6) 72% of employers report that they give their employees sick days. Tell us about a time when you called in sick, but weren't. I have personal days so I don't have to do that

7) According to the 2010 Census, 5.9 million Americans regularly work from home. Is working from home something you have/you would enjoy? Or do you benefit from interaction with coworkers? I would not be good at working from home, I need the structure of bells ringing

8) 12% of workers report they prefer to report for work early -- before 7:00 AM -- so they can get more done. Are you a morning person? yes!

9) The NFL season starts on September 8. How do you think your team will do this year? the Patriots will go all the way!

Personal days are good. Not everybody has though. And I hope your team wins (since I don't have a stake in it one way or another).

I really need the clock in my life as well as someone to make me accountable. If I worked at home WITH Beast--even alongside him at a separate job--I might be ok. Maybe.

And, nothing personal, but I really hope you're wrong about #9. :)

I like how nice you are about those Millennials. There is a difference- that's for sure :)

I just saw the video with James Brown and Pavarotti...what a blast! Have you seen it? Loved working at home...when I worked. I got sooo much done! Probably put in more tine than when I was "present and accounted for" at the office.
Cheers~
