In real estate, it’s all about location, location, location. But how about books? Does where a book is set affect your reading choices? Are you more or less likely to read books set in places you know or love?
I do have a fondness for books set in Ireland--so I tend to add them to my TBR rather than skipping over them. Otherwise, I like books set on planet Earth. I'm not fond of sciency-fiction set in alternate realities or on other planets.
Thinking about this some more, I read Maine authors to support them. Think Cathie Pelletier, Elizabeth Strout, Stephen King, and a few others.
