questioning

What are you questioning?

Ahh, so many things I'm questioning--from large, existential topics to the mundane. What really has me going right now, though, is the national political climate. I'm wondering how it's possible for a legitimate candidate to combat the money machines of big politics. Right now, this shit-show is making me cringe when I have to explain to my students what is going on. They want to know why there are so many candidates running and how the process is going to eliminate them. Unfortunately, money talks and the issues are buried behind personalities. There's too much rhetoric. And too much money.

What we've seen, I fear, is the insidious overtaking of the government by agents of change we would not ever admit into the running of our huge government if we, the people, had any real power. The truth is that we've been bird dogged off into consumerism while the noose got tighter and tighter around our necks. Now we are nearly powerless to stop it. Taking their money away is key, but the only way to do it is to stop buying into the circus they've created for us. Incrementally we may get our power back. It is my hope anyway. Radical change is bad, and it never changes anything without doing great harm. It's creepy the way we are in a frenzy to buy, buy, buy, while a criminal enterprise takes our country and our freedom away.

I decided, years ago, that it really doesn't matter what WE THE PEOPLE want. I just, for the most part, ignore all of it!

I don't even know where to begin when it comes to the mess of national politics.

Amen! I'm truly, truly disgusted by this election cycle. Even more than previous election cycles. It scares the hell out of me that racism, bigotry, and hatred appear to be talking points and platforms. Don't get me wrong, I'm no ostrich with my head in the sand--politics is pretty ugly. But this cycle? Beyond the pale.
