Okay, show of hands … who has read Shakespeare OUTSIDE of school required reading? Do you watch the plays? How about movies? Do you love him? Think he’s overrated?
I occasionally read Shakespeare for fun. When I get into the rhythm of the language it isn't that difficult to read. I love watching the plays live and I love the movies (most of them, I admit the Mel Gibson Hamlet was a tad much). I like the plays, King Lear is my favorite; but I also love the sonnets. I'm not an expert and I'm not a reading snob (I don't think I am, anyhow) I just happen to enjoy Shakespeare.

I enjoy Shakespeare and there have been some terrific film adaptations. I think he's best when performed on stage.
