the moratorium

So, the shopping moratorium has been in place for a month-and-a-half. Sometimes when I'm bored, I browse online clothing sites. And I fill up my virtual cart. And then I go back and purchase. The result is that I have an extensive, seasonal, wardrobe. I love all my clothes, I wear it all, and I'm excited by the accessories, shoes, and boots I have to go with it. And I realized my lack of impulse control was starting to get out of hand. The shopping moratorium is in place from July 1 until January 1, 2015. And it's been really hard. When I've gone on road trips to Central Maine, the way I shop is different. I don't hit my favorite stores. And when I'm noodling around online, I close the lid of the laptop instead of shopping. Usually when I'm dealing with habits and impulse control, I try to substitute new habits for old, unhealthy habits. But this time, I'm just not shopping. It's been tough--I'm going to start the school year without a new, back-to-school outfit. And I'm ok with that.

That's GOT to be hard. I'm not so good at telling myself no--I can get carried away with toys and books. You're an inspiration!
