what do I do?

Day 6, Monday: If you couldn't answer with your job, how would you answer the question, 'what do you do'?

What do I do? Plan, organize, meet deadlines, entertain, coach, cheer, model behavior, model citizenship, answer questions both on and off topic, bond, problem solve, motivate, give reality checks, write letters of recommendation--sometimes at the last minute, collaborate, inspire, raise aspirations, attend meetings, encourage, photocopy, negotiate, clean, evaluate, assess, impart knowledge, question, assign, manage, greet, build skills, and meet the needs of classrooms full of a variety of teenagers with a variety of different capabilities, while getting and keeping them interested in social studies. Throughout the course of my day, I do all of the above. I have 112 students.

I am a teacher.

Thanks for sharing all the 'little' jobs that teachers do. I don't think most of us realize all the other things that teachers do.

Teachers wear many hats and probably work harder than someone who has an 8-5 year around job. I have so much respect for them. Happy Teacher Appreciation Week!

112! That number gives me pause. You have a lot to do just to keep the names straight!
