So last week I shipped a thank you gift full of Maine goodies to the historian my class had a Skype visit with, and I got confirmation that the package arrived. But I haven't heard from him. How long should I wait before I send him an email to see if he received it? And, what should I say?

I'd give him a couple weeks and then I would send a message and say "Just making sure that you got the gift I sent" Hope you hear from him soon.
OOOH! This is one of the great conundrums of my life (right up there with who I should tip and how much). I say give it 10 working days (two weeks). That's plenty of time. Then just say what Paula recommended.
i would just drop it. it's on him, i would tell the class he said thank you.
been reading your blog and love all the knitting stuff you have done, so i took my first class last week.
