technology is terrific!

Today was a terrific technology day for me. My Period 3 class was able to Skype with author Kenneth C. Davis about the Civil War. They were rather reticent to ask questions, partly because the Principal joined the class; but when the chat was over and turned off they livened up and had a lot to say. I was pleased that Davis confirmed everything I've taught them. I was a little nervous that I might have misinformed them of some detail or other. And I was a little nervous using this technology for the first time. But it worked like a charm and Davis was informative and interesting. Now they're all vying for his Civil War book, it's too bad I only bought one copy.

This is so exciting! I'm glad that it all went well for you, and glad that the expert reinforced you for your class. And how cool that you were able to use the technology to keep them so engaged.

How do you decide who gets the book?

I LOVE SKYPE! I'm able to Skype in Eddie (and, if her assistant ever gets his act together, Anne Rice). Skype is AWESOME!

Usually the most pitiful, begging face gets the book.
