So, I'm not known for being a terribly religious person. But I can't resist a challenge. Usually I "give up" sex for Lent. But this year I thought I would make a sacrifice, for real. I am giving up shopping. Oh, I'll still get groceries and household necessities, but I won't buy anything else. And I've already tried to figure out how a Nook book would fit in to the necessity category but I didn't buy it. I even got a phone call telling me about a Friends & Family sale at my favorite clothing store happening next weekend. I got a bit shivery but... I will resist. I'm hoping to break my shopping habit. Because I think it is a habit. One I can stand to break.

I can't believe how closely our lives are tracking here! I have been paying attention to how often I buy "stuff" and why I buy it and it's been quite the learning experience for me. This closer scrutiny to consumption may help me reign in my clutter, too! So please, let us know how your Lent experiment unfolds.
