holidailies...

It's been a couple of years since I last participated in the Holidailies challenge: to post every day during the holidays.

Today's question: What holiday traditions from your childhood are you happy not to follow as an adult? We used to go to my Papère's house and he used to open all our presents for us... slowly... using a letter opener so they could save the paper. I'm glad we don't have to sit around and let someone else open our gifts anymore.

OK, we used to do the paper thing when I was a kid too, but we opened our own presents. Kinda sucky to make kids do that, although I supposed now you appreciate small things like opening presents more. :-\

Sounds like he was the original recycler! And I bet that, as a child, it was MOST frustrating!

Seriously, even for an adult, having someone else open your gifts just sucks. Saving paper makes sense, though. My mom and I are embarking on a challenge to buy superfancy decorative boxes that are reusable and be wrapping paper-free by 2013.
