I made the executive decision to not finish reading this book and not to attend book group this upcoming Saturday. Do I feel guilty? Yes. Should I? No.
First, two disclaimers: 1) I like Karen Armstrong. I have not read this book, however, because it's nother usual stuff. 2) I'm a librarian. (which you knew, probably)
But the meat of my comment: life is too short to a) finish books you don't like, and b) feel guilty about it.
I quit on LOADS of books. The Gal Herself is right: sometimes they aren't what you need to be reading just then.

Books are like songs -- they either grab you or they don't. So this one didn't grab you -- not your fault.
