peanut butter & jelly time...

When you make a PBJ, do you put peanut butter on both slices of bread and then put jelly on or does one slice of bread get peanut butter and the other slice jelly?

I make GLORIOUS PB&J sandwiches. I put a measurable slather of peanut butter on one slice, then I put just a thin scraping on the other (to keep the jam from making the bread soggy), then put on a generous helping of jelly. My sandwiches are yummy, but messy.

My biological was raised by a survivor of the Great Depression and, as a result, she was CHEAP with sandwich fillings. I grew up with the merest hint of PB&J, or one slice of bologna, or a few flakes of tuna - you get the idea. My generosity with such things is a direct backlash against the want of my youth.

My preferred method is to mix appropriate amounts of pb&j in a bowl and then put a little on each piece of bread.

A thin, ever-so thin, hint of spray I Can't Believe It's Not Butter on the PB side helps even the thickest, chunkiest PB spread evenly without tearing the bread. Then jelly or jam on the other side. (More if it's jelly, less if it's jam.) Preferably strawberry jelly or jam.

Thank you.
