So today I had to sass my students as we started preparing for mid-term exams. I think they've gotten chatty during the student teacher days and I had to re-establish my alpha position. I was working on the study guide, going over all the information for the test and reminded them that it's pretty sad when I care more about how they do on the test than they do. I told them they didn't have to pay attention if they didn't want to but if they chose to not pay attention they had to at least respect me and those who do want the information enough to be quiet. Actually, for one or two of the classes I may have said "to shut up." Which I never say so it was bound to get their attention...
Some of the classes had a party for the student teacher. Yesterday, everyone made a card for her so this morning I had them all set up on her desk, she walked in to a hundred cards. I screened them to make sure they were appropriate and they all were. Some of the peskier students even apologized for giving her a hard time. I thought, yeah, where's my apology?? Yeah, but I don't let them give me a hard time, really.
I'm gettin' back in the saddle, baby. And yes, I realize I mixed my tenses. Deal.
