what a maroon...

Tomorrow is "maroon" day, which luckily enough means I will have two hours of planning time, thanks to the freaky scheduling. Today's schedule meant I had so much class time that I taught and taught and taught my little heart out. I did manage to get all of my work corrected and entered in the grade book. And I figured out how to shuffle my lessons to get back on track to keep the classes on the same place. I did finish some work faster than I expected to.

I lined up a guest speaker for next week. This is a reschedule from when Dad was in Portland. She's going to teach them double-entry notes. And we'll be studying the Revolutionary War, hopefully we'll be talking about the social aspects of the war which will be interesting. Well, I think it's all interesting, but hopefully it will hook the kiddos.

And I got all the paperwork filed for the upcoming Civil Rights Team Fall Training. The bus request, the registration forms and my workshop "permission" form. I was able to get the principal to sign off on everything at once, which was helpful. Now I have to remember to confirm the bus and stuff closer to the date. Hopefully, I'll also be going to the state conference for social studies teachers in November with the guys in my department. We need some fun travel time together. I love Augusta.

It was a busybusy day.

Growing up and going to public school, I'm thoroughly Civil War'd. I can even talk Jenny Wade and Elizabeth Keckley. But, this is embarrassing to admit, I learned much of what I now know about the Revolution from HBO. I didn't realize how few of our founding fathers actually saw battle! Good luck with your kids. What you do is really so important.

I left out an important part of my comment -- "Growing up and going to public school IN ILLINOIS, I am thoroughly Civil War'd."
