Ten things about windy days:
1) I love watching the sky on a windy day. How the clouds scud by so fast and change shapes again and again. The sky shape shifts.
2) There's a particular smell in the air when it's a cold wind. Indescribable but discernible. Not a bad smell, just a vague something in the air.
3) It bothers me that my hair blows all over the place. I know, I know, everyone's hair blows all over the place, but my hair is baby fine and it tangles up and looks ridiculous.
4) The sound the wind makes when it whooshes through the screen can be relaxing during the daytime or spooky at night.
5) When the wind picks up travelers, like leaves or trash, I love to watch the dance and twirl.
6) If the wind is cold and blows up your nose, you lose your breath.
7) Skirts in the wind. 'Nuf said.
8) Watching trees wave in the wind is cool. Makes me think of the resiliency of nature. Especially when there are green leaves on the trees. It's not quite the same when the wind plucks the autumn leaves.
9) Familiar sounds that the wind causes, like the snap of the flag or the clink of the flag rope against the pole across the street.
10) When the wind stops there's a sense of calm.

For as much as I really dislike winter (I may even apply the word "hate" to it), I DO love being tucked snugly in my warm bed, listening to the wind blowing outside. So much the better if it's blowing snow or rain around - the sound of all that nastiness UNABLE to reach me makes me feel safe and good.
