give me five monday

The 'Give Me Five' Monday meme is designed to share fun information with each other in a simple short list! Here's how it works. Each week, I will put out a random topic from my list of topics and you share 5 answers of your choice on the given topic and link back here! You can add photos, links or stories or just a simple list of your own of 5 things that relate to the topic as it pertains to you and your life experiences. It doesn't have to be in any order of importance unless otherwise specified.

Give Me Five birthday memories from your life or of someone else.

1. The first birthday that comes to mind is my 40th. I celebrated for forty days, doing something special for myself each day. Little things, big things, just things that focus time on me. I've been keeping up with the concept pretty well, too. It was my favorite birthday, too because the week of my birthday my friends at school sent me a party invitation each day and we had a special themed meal and party every day for the week. The best birthday I ever had! Oh, my students decorated my room, too! It was filled with balloons and streamers.

2. My dad's 70th birthday party was postponed from his birthday in May to the 4th of July a year ago so we could have a family reunion and big open house. It was the first time in years that all of us were together--the grown up kids, the little kids, and my sisters. We had a wonderful, wonderful party.

3. Another big birthday for me was my 22nd, I was living in Ireland and we went bar-hopping and had lots of free drinks because it was my birthday! Woo hoo! Oh, and my friends got me a black forest cake from my favorite little cafe.

4. Of course the 18th was a rite of passage. That day I registered to vote. It was such a big deal for me and disappointing that it was an off-year election.

5. And the 21st was a big blur. I did wait until I was 21 to drink. I had a lot of time to make up for.

I love your 40th birthday idea! Wish I'd thought of that. My 40th was memorable because we had to evacuate for a hurricane.
