ten things tuesday...

Ten things I hate

1) Loss of internet. It is almost painful to not have my usual outlets to read and explore on a daily basis. Yesterday was tough. blah.

2) Excessive swearing. Sometimes a well-placed fuck is funny but over use dulls the humor. I wish my students would "get" this.

3) Slow drivers in the passing lane. Seriously, it's called the passing lane so we can pass. grrrrrrr

4) Pain. I hate achy body bits and parts.

5) Jackass stunts. How is that entertaining? Why is humor based on ridiculing someone else funny?

6) Raised voices. I shut down completely when voices are raised. During one of my first years teaching I had to confront my principal about his tendency to raise his voice when he got excited and worked up about anything. I told him that I didn't "hear" anything he said to me because I don't do well with raised voices. I was so proud of myself for talking to him about it. And he seemed proud of me, too, because he was far more careful and aware of his tendency to yell and shout.

7) Dry eyes. Some days are worse than others but the burning itch, watery sting is painful. And it happens at the worst times--like at the movies tonight.

8) Movie talkers. Speaking of the movies, the dude behind us had a running commentary for the entire film. He almost ruined Iron Man, except when he told his date that he didn't understand what I was laughing at a couple of times. Oh yeah, did I mention he texted throughout most of the movie, too?

9) Whining. Yeah, I know I'm guilty of whining often but... I hate when the kids whine about things that have no solutions--like it's too hot out or they hate taking notes from the overhead.

10) Hate. I hate that I hate things. It's a useless emotion.

I totally agree with you about the movie talkers. They annoy me SO MUCH.

The last movie I saw was "Nim's Island." I took the nephew to see it, and the girl in front of us text the ENTIRE TIME. It was very distracting.

Great list! I'm with you on most of it, but especially the passing lane morons...
