A whirlwind trip but so very worthwhile. The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum sponsored this workshop with the Holocaust Human Rights Center of Maine and we got many valuable materials to use with our classes. Teachers love freebies!
I had never driven myself to the UMaine Augusta campus but after getting great directions from the hotel staff (who were so very kind to me during my stay) it was a snap. Once on campus, though, I was turned around from the campus map and couldn't figure out where to go. But some cute little old men were on the fitness trail and I hailed them for further directions. They were like a comedy routine, one telling me it's the building with the "gorgeous" roof and the other giving turn by turn directions!
Today was/is a gorgeous day for driving. There was an accident just north of Bangor, though, that had shut down traffic for about half an hour. Normally I would spaz out at something like that (both from horror of the accident and from the inconvenience), instead, I used the time to meditate and enjoy the sunshine. I was mindful of other cars, though (hence my Thursday Bug) and watching that behavior made me even more determined to not add negativity to the situation. Whatever the wreckage was, it was gone when I got there, just shattered glass remained, thankfully, I get ill looking at scenes like that.

I'm home in one piece, didn't drive like a speed demon (who, me??), and had a lovely couple of days of spending time with myself. It was nice to be going at my own pace, I got to have dinner where I wanted to, shop where I wanted to and didn't have to compromise my interests. And I didn't have to make superficial conversation for hours on end, trapped in the car.

Sounds fabulous. Makes me want to find a reason to go away for a few days. And you're not riding with the right people if you're making superficial conversation. I like those long car rides where you relax & listen to the music. :)
It all sounds great!
Augusta is a bit far for me - if you were in PORTLAND, we'd have been on to something, though.
How was the workshop? What did you learn, and what freebies did you get?
