rambling again... (idol chatter)

What's with the song choices from the 60s?? Maybe these kids just don't know enough 60s music. Both nights were a bit of a disappointment with song choices.

I liked a lot of the girls but voted for just a few. Hopefully, next week they'll be healthy enough to have some fire in their performances. That must be what was missing--there didn't seem to be enough fun and fire.

Does it bother me that a couple of the contestants have experience in the recording industry? Meh, not so much. It does give an advantage to them as performers, I think, but it doesn't necessarily make them better singers.

I have been told that the contestants aren't really given their choice of songs from the 1960s -- just very specific and affordable songs from the 1960s. Which explains why no Beatles, who defined the 60s for me. The Lads from Liverpool and Dylan (I assume) are too expensive from a publishing POV to be represented. But instead, we got to hear "Where the Boys Are." I mean, REALLY!

I know Randy says that girls really have it going on and the guys really have to bring it (I love talking like Randy), but I think my main dawg is just wrong. I think the guys are the ones who really know how to put it down this year.
